Coffee cup and book on the table in the morning

I love this quote…
“Our purpose here is to be used for something higher than ourselves”

by Marianne Williamson.

At first I wondered, “What does that actually mean?”

Asking life’s big questions is sooo my thing! And “excavating truth” is my unique gift and talent. So I researched and pondered this idea for some time until I got clear.

This is what it means to “do something greater than yourself”.

When you have experienced something (in life or business) that caused you a high degree of “suffering” or “pain” or “stress” or “curiosity” or even “joy”, you learned important lessons from that experience. You learned a solution to your problem or a new way of thinking that caused you to change or transform your life or business for the better.

When you turn your experiences into a “personal story” that reveals “life-changing truths”, “Life or Business Lessons”, “inspired action” or cause “Aha Moments” then share your story with someone else. There is an alchemy that takes place- you transform your “pain” into “joy”.

You transform your “pain” into “joy” when you help another person who is going through what you went through and you show them (a solution) the way out of the darkness and into the light. And that’s when you are “doing something greater than yourself”. You are literally helping someone else experience joy or peace too.

Doing something greater than yourself is the answer to feeling real joy, fulfillment, meaning and enjoying your life.

Doing something greater than yourself is your purpose. This is
your real work you were born to share in the world.

How this concept works in a business.

When the real purpose of our business is to “do something greater than ourselves” instead of merely “chasing money”, that’s when the universe conspires on our behalf to usher in miracles, the right people, crazy good opportunities and profits soar beyond you could dream, hope or imagine!
Yes, it’s important to have revenue goals and track sales. However, I learned a big lesson as a business owner. When I shifted my focus from “My Million Dollar Sales Goal” to focusing on PEOPLE instead, that’s when the money flowed in.Money is a by-product of our pure intentions and the value we give?

I learned this lesson the hard way and this is how I am doing something greater than myself by sharing this with you now.

This is critical for you to know (or a good reminder) because God’s got a bigger plan for you.

Do you know what your purpose is? What is the work you do that is something greater than yourself? Tell me in the comments below.

Much love,
